Best Breakfast in Pacific Grove, CA

Pacific Grove Lovers Point

Best Breakfast Pacific Grove, CA.

Clients often ask me where to get the best breakfast in Pacific Grove, CA.  There are dozens of places that serve breakfast in Pacific Grove, but there are only a few that have passed the long term locals test and will always serve up a consistently perfect breakfast meal.

In my opinion, First Awakenings serves the best breakfast in Pacific Grove and the best gourmet pancakes on the Monterey Peninsula.  Please try the banana germ pancakes, they are heavenly.   My daughter Lorin loves the eggs benedict at First Awakenings, but I always get the mushroom caps and eggs.  They have great iron skillet scrambles that can be ordered a variety of ways.  Breakfast at First Awakenings was at one point a ritual for my young family, where we would often see one of the owners, Craig Bell greeting guests while they wait just outside of his restaurant.   This Pacific Grove breakfast hot spot almost always has a short wait unless it’s raining and they need to close the patio…then it’s a large line.   Even when the line is long, the breakfast is definitely worth the wait. First awakening’s is located in the American Tin Cannery about 2 blocks from the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Interestingly enough, about 35 years ago my Dad was the Realtor that sold the American Tin Cannery to the Cannery Row Company.

Toasties Cafe is considered one of the best spots for Breakfast in Pacific Grove by most locals.  Toasties has a charming atmosphere, similar to going to your grandmother’s home for a delicious, heartfelt breakfast. This Pacific Grove breakfast spot has delish cottage fries and perfect huevos rancheros.  The omlettes are plump and fluffy, and the waffles are to die for.  If one is looking for the best breakfast spot in Pacific Grove, they will not be disappointed with Toasties. Located on the west end of downtown, on the corner of Lighthouse Avenue and Congress, Toasties is across the street from the Post office.

There are two other restaurants that serve up a mean breakfast in Pacific Grove.  The Little Red House as the locals call it, or the Red House Café on Lighthouse Avenue is famous for its great quiches.  The portions are small compared to First Awakening’s or Toasties, but the Red House Café serves up a tasty breakfast none the less.  Breaker’s Cafe on Forest Avenue is another good option for Breakfast in Pacific Grove.  Named after the Pacific Grove High School mascot, Breaker’s Café is decked out with old Pacific Grove high school memorabilia. The fried calamari and eggs is very good at Breaker’s Cafe along with the more traditional breakfast items.

These are just a few of the options for a great breakfast in Pacific Grove, CA. Feel free to chime in below on any of your favorites for breakfast in Pacific Grove, CA.
